how we met
Gemma & Clive met at HMV Oxford in the late summer of 1999. Often after a hard day's work Gem and Clive would meet up in The Grapes and over a drink with friends they would discuss the nutters that had been in that day.
One afternoon in early spring 2000, Clive asked Gemma if she coming for a drink after work, failing to mention to her that that no one else from work would be there. Cheeky move, but Clive was forgiven...eventually.
After a couple more pub dates, they arranged to meet for a dinner at their local italian restaurant. Gem ordered chili garlic prawns and Clive had deep fried calamari. Some things just don't change.
Fast forward to Friday 29th February 2008. Gem and Clive were having dinner at their now favourite local bistro. Gem asked Clive if he knew what 'day' it was (the answer is leap year by the way). Clive sighed sensing a stitch-up/conspiracy from work colleagues then realised Gem was serious. Skip to the end - Clive proposed, Gem said yes, and then the dessert turned up (mmm Baileys cheesecake) Hurrah. Gem had a little but happy cry and Clive grinned ear to ear; then they went home to drink champagne and start their plans...
Our Wedding
We're getting married on Tuesday 19 May 2009 at the Constance Belle Mare Plage Hotel, in Poste de Flacq, Mauritius. We're very lucky to have sixteen guests (welcome Julie!) joining us in Mauritius for the big day, we're really overwhelmed & touched. Welcome everyone!

i) Dress Code:
Breakfast/lunch is smart casual so no bikinis or sleeveless T-shirts (for men). Evenings (after 6:30 pm) is deemed elegant chic so no T-shirts, bermuda shorts, sandals or slippers. More info about the staying at Belle Mare Plage is on this factsheet No topless bathing!

ii) Sundries
No need to take shower gel, shampoo or conditioner unless you want to use your own brand, also the hairdryers provided are the brush sort that are attached to the wall. And no need to take your own beach towels as hotel provides them too. Packing hint - I'm packing my swimwear in my hand lugguage so I can be first in the pool!

Some of our guests have already asked us whether we have a wedding gift list. As we will be married before we see you all in June, we feel uncomfortable about arranging a formal list. But we do understand that our guests may wish to give us a little something, in which case we would welcome gift vouchers from John Lewis

The Fleece Inn is a charming medieval inn owned by the National Trust. It's located in Bretforton , Worcestershire, in the beautiful Cotswolds. Click here to see Bretforton's location on a Google satellite map.
Our reception is being held in the medieval barn which looks out across the courtyard and the Orchard Garden.

The Fleece have kindly given us a long list of local accommodation (cottages, B&B's and luxury hotels!), so if you would like a copy just let us know. We're making a long weekend of it as we're renting a cottage in nearby Mickleton (close to the home of the famous Pudding Club - The Three Ways Hotel), Steve and Elaine (Clive's parents) are staying in Evesham and some of Gem's family are staying in self-catering converted barn cottages nearby Honeybourne. Steve (Gem's Dad) has booked all the cottages from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon so if you're interested in having one of the cottages, drop us an email.

Saturday 13 June 2009 at The Victoria 90 Walton Street, Jericho Oxford, OX2 6EB. We're hiring the front terrace, the lair with a private bar so fingers crossed for a warm summer evening. The party starts at 6pm.
